1. About the report
This report has been written for the purposes of the Technician Stage of the Education and Training Scheme of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).
The report describes responsibility of the accounting system, highlighting problems with the existing system and making suggestion for changes to the existing practice.
The report quantifies the benefit and cost of the changes to the existing situation in the Accounting Department of The Premier Supplies Limited (POS).
2. Executive summary
The aim of the report is to identify the areas in the existing accounting system and human management system where improvement is needed. Analysis SWOT has been conducted in relation to the existing accounting system and also analysis of staff performance, function and responsibilities.
Based on the analysis changes were recommended. Some steps have to be taken immediately in order to improve business performance of the company. The most important are:
• Establishing Human Resources Department, which would carry function of staff training, permanent development, preventing stress, managing change and motivating staff
• Staff training and rescheduling work
• Contingency planning for staff absence, IT and energy supply failure
• Implementing innovative method of backing up information
• Internal control procedures
