to a disaster. So a technician is needed to save the show.

The opportunities available

By becoming a technician you can start working for film and television companies and theatres.
But the negative side is, if you want your career to be a success, your reputation and track record will have to be good.

Costumes designer - The job description

The job of a costume designer is to make the clothes and costumes which are needed in theatre, film or even television programs. Other work includes talking about ideas with the director, make-up and lighting designers, sketch costume designs, work closely with others, study scripts as well.

On smaller productions, you might manage the costumes, buy outfits, cleaning and mending.

The skills and qualities needed

To become a costume designer you will need a lot of design skills, also some practical sewing.
There is another way and that is to start as a wardrobe assistant or a costume maker and you can work your way up as you have more experience. By working in student theatre and film production you could get the experience employers will be looking for.

How this job affects your lifestyle

By becoming a costume designer you would need to spare quite a lot of time to get the job done correctly. You need to spare time to create ideas, sketch designs, study some scripts as well. So I would say that it can be quite tiring and stressful because you will be thinking too much about ideas and that would have an affect with the brain and could result in headaches. I am not sure about the sleeping pattern.

The work for becoming a prop maker

The job of a prop maker is basically to make realistic stuff for performances in theatre, film and television programs.
But to become one, I will need a great amount of skills such as painting, carpentry, sewing and much more.
I will be making props from rough sketches or detailed designs to ensure my work would be carefully done and that I wouldn’t suffer mistakes because it is always better to plan and do than think from the top of your head!
Props would be made from different materials like metal, latex. Fibreglass, wood or glass so I would assume that I will be using these materials for the props. I should make sure that I know how to create designs from these materials.
To actually make these props I will be using hand power tools
