Another important work would be to know where and when the performers will be off stage or coming on.
The qualifications and experience needed
To become a stage manager I will need a lot of knowledge and experience in theatre practice. I can work through acting to start with or work backstage.
Usually, I will need a university or drama school qualification in stage management.
Some qualifications are listed below:
Degrees and professional diplomas in drama school
BTEC HND in Performing Arts
Degrees in theatre practice or stage management
There are ways of getting experience such as being involved in student theatre or working as a casual stagehand in theatre venues.
The further training and development I can do
I will start developing my skills on the job from assistant to deputy and then stage manager.
I can also take short courses for technical areas and production management.
Only a few theatres will pay me for training courses. And so I will have to do some developing by my own.
The payment
The payment for starting assistants and deputies are around £15,000 to £20,000 a year. Experienced workers can receive £40,000 a year or even more.
Surprisingly, rates for stage managers are done by ‘Equity’.

The hours would be long. I would work during the day for rehearsals and stages, but when there are performances I will work in the evenings.
The skills and qualities needed
I will need a keen interest in theatre and live performances because without interest, I will be bored throughout my time at work. A whole load of skills including organisational and leadership skills. Confidence and flexibility to multi-task.
Meet deadlines because if this is not accomplished then the performance that would be running, will fall and be a disaster.
The lifestyle and opportunities available
I can work for a national theatre, concert production companies, touring theatre and much more. If I wanted to work as a stage manager I would have to do a lot of work and then go onto theatre producer. If it is likely, I can work in TV productions as a floor manager.
The work
The job of a producer is to make a film, TV and video productions and do the process from start to finish. Some oother types of producers create ideas and concepts for programmes and TV shows such as soaps. There are also a few other types who have a more business related role.
I would also cast performers to work for me and
