So we set about to create an advertisement drama to show a scenario where capital punishment would be a good option rather than people thinking it was inhumane, inappropriate, barbaric, etc. I played the “host” of the advert and addressed the audience personally, right from the start. As I was the host, I was responsible for putting the hard-hitting points across to the audience; therefore, I had to speak boldly and frankly. My tone of voice was harsh, and symbolized anger, pain and suffering from the victims of the relatives that had been murdered one way or another. I altered my tone of voice at different times. I did this to emphasise certain important points.
We used the drama technique cross cutting. This proved effective as the scenes switched from just me onstage, to Ben. In this scene, Ben is stood on a box surrounded by chairs. The chairs symbolized that he was in a state of captivity. I circle Ben, and hurl abuse at him. This was done in order for the audience to hate him even more, as he was a murderer. Ben’s body languge was defiant. He didn’t care at all. His facial expressions were evil and pyshcotic. You could see that he was not remorseful for what he had done. This was a crucial part to the Advert, he was a murderer and wasn’t bothered, his actions mirrored the views of other murderers, and therefore this part was one that got the audiences blood “boiling” with anger. We did this to induce more hate for Ben and swing the audience’s opinions on capital punishment so that they saw it as a good and meaningful thing.
Due to the fact it was an advert our main purpose as characters was to sell our product: “Capital Punishment” . To make the drama hard-hitting I deliberately emphasised certain words. This was to induce seriousness within the audience and to also keep the advert interesting. My tone of voice was harsh when addressing Ben in the middle, however this varied when I interacted with the audience, as my tone of voice was much softer and calm this induced compassion and emotion from within the audience to again swing their opinions for capital punishment.
At the end of the drama we chose to use a still image. As we were putting across a very serious and stern matter, we had to make
