I trip and stumble as I tear down the muddy track, exhaling huge clouds of condensation into the crisp spring air. As I reach my destination, I spin around, exhilarated by the sheer beauty of the place in which I now find myself. I venture curiously through the vast, vibrant tangle of green, glistening plants; an awe inspiring wonderland of magic. Tall trees tower above like mothers protecting their young, and supple, snake-like climbers wrap and knot their way to the sky. I wonder what it’s like up there, high and free, touching candyfloss clouds and dancing sunbeams? Leaves and greenery are in abundance here, each tattooed with its own design; many traced with the glistening trademark of slugs and snails. Crouching spiders loom threateningly in corners, guarding their silver webs strung with sparkling pearls of dew; beautiful but deadly bait to the unsuspecting victims.
As the plants part, a gentle mist of water strokes my face and dances elegantly before me. The spray clouds over the magical scene, refreshing everything, restoring purity, consuming all, blanketing every blade of grass, every smooth, moss covered rock. It swirls its way gracefully to the ground where it lies to rest and seeps away, perfectly untouched.
Light is captured by the mist and transformed into dazzling rainbows through which fairy-like butterflies flitter and glide. The streaks of sunlight that escape dart restlessly, chasing their tails like young puppies and plummet towards the crystal clear pool and are bounced back off again to continue their chase.
They then thread their way through the tumbling, cascading waterfall. The water crashes and smashes down under its immense weight. It twists and wraps its way into knots as it falls effortlessly. It greets the pool with a massive splash of white bubbles, rearing like a stallion and plunging downwards again. Never ending. Never ceasing. Forever racing to its end, an end which is out of reach and impossible to meet.
The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is a perfect image of calm. It’s like liquid mercury as it laps the rocks gently and softly, swallowing the rushing splash of water, silencing its roar and transforming it into a peaceful mirror surface. The surface ripples as a spinning diamond droplet plinks daintily into it, but then the tranquillity is restored, completely flawless, as if untouched. Disappearing under that mirror would
