Next as he says the piece
“why then …………………… no love in this”
he should start fairly slowly and softly and then gradually get louder and faster pacing around distractedly in a circle until he gets to
“This love feel I that feel that feel no love in this”,
at which point he should stop and swing around to face Benvolio and say it quietly with an undertone of despair. Then he should pause for a minute and look at Benvolio before asking
“Dost thou not laugh?”
in the same way, while holding out his hands in a questioning gesture.
For the second speech I’ve chosen
“O, she doth teach the torches…………………till this night”.
While Romeo makes this speech he should be standing and gazing adoringly at Juliet. His right hand should be on his heart and his left held up and slightly outwards. He should say it in a soft whisper, then get louder on the line
“Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight!”
and fling out his hand on the “forswear”.
Finally for the last line he should drop to a hushed whisper with both hands on his heart.
This development of Romeo’s character from unhappy, miserable and confused to happy and confidant is very important for the rest of the play as it allows the events to unfold as they do.
