Crime and Punishment

The first part of my essay is about crime wave where more crimes are happening so the crimewave is going up. This is important because if the crimes are going up the crimewave will show us, we can also find ways of preventing crime if there are loads of crimes in a certain area.

According to the recorded crime figures for a year ending in March show that robbery has gone up 3%. Another crime that has gone up is drug offences by 9%. 13% of adults who own a car find high levels of worry about car crime it has remained a stable 13% comparing with the previous year these figures show how Britain are having a crime wave as 2 out of a possible 5 have gone up. The figures of crimes going down are all a lower percent then the drug offences.

The recorded crimes from 1997 to 2007 show how much crime has gone down in many different crimes such as; Domestic burglary 3%, Offences against vehicles 4%, Sexual offences 7% and violence against a person is down by 1%. All these crimes are very fatal and prove that Britain is not having a crime wave, in fact crimes in Britain are going down each year. These percentages show that the crime rate in Britain has gone down altogether by 2% in 1997 to 2006 there was an even bigger drop in crime, as not one crime has gone up they all seemed to drop heavily. Burglary went down 55% and also some more that dropped significantly were household thefts 33%, BCS violence 31%, personal offences 32%. All crime those years as measured by the BCS were down 32%.

My own opinion about crime wave in Britain, I would say we are because the crimes that have gone up have a higher or close to percentage than any that may have gone down.

The next part of the essay I will be looking at “Jack the Ripper” where he succeeded with his murders from 1888 till 1891 where it seemed to have stopped. His identity still remains unrevealed. Back in 1888 in the east end of London founded to be one of poorest city’s of the time Jack the Ripper’s name regarded with terror through out the city’s.

Some people believe that Jack was never caught because the police were not at all up for the job! Some good evidence
