is that the majority of my open questions were not answered. Even though I did a pilot study, I still had problems with my questionnaire. If I was to hand out my questionnaire again, I would take out all but my first open question as none of these were answered. Doing this will also reduce printing costs.

Conclusion:

My initial aim as to find out whether Asian and Black year 11 students attending Broomfield School still have to deal with racial abuse and if so, to what extent.

Hypothesis:

My hypothesis is that year 11 students in Broomfield School still face racial abuse today and that the boys would feel that they are more racially abused than the girls.

From my data, I found that my hypothesis was correct. Year 11s from ethnic minorities still have to face racism in society today but the boys have to deal with it a lot more than the girls.

There are lots of different reasons for racism existing in society including some of the following:

Fear of another race.

Jealousy (e.g. refugees and migrants that are blamed for taking other peoples’ jobs).

Ignorance and stupidity.

Hatred for another race.

Negative portrayals of certain cultural and religious groups by the media and government (e.g. the media has made it look like the majority of muslim population are terrorists).

Desire for power over others.

Even though racism isn’t as bad as it use to be, if we don’t sort out the above problems, racism will only get worst, especially with racist political parties such as the BNP (British National Party) becoming more popular. In the near future, don’t be surprised if one of the future prime ministers is a member of the BNP.
