It is interesting to note that humans have made 32,647,389 laws and still have not been able to keep them. Thus to remove and add a new commandment on the basis of the above fact should be considered nonsensical, insignificant and idiotic by a group of ‘judges’ and what’s more, direct disobedience to the will of the Holy One of Israel by a group of God fearing judges who accept the Ten Commandments as delivered by Adonai Ts-v’Ot, the One Who Speaks.
A devout disciple of Elohay Mishpat will therefore believe that Elohim Chaiyim is sovereign and no other person representing any principality or power should ever try to change His Commandments which He has given to His chosen people.
The Ten Commandments are still relevant for a devout disciple of Elohay Elohim. Not one commandment is out of date or out of touch with today’s ‘modern world’ and therefore begs the challenge of the Hebrew Bibles’ critics with rock solid and unshakeable confidence that has its power from the Word of God. A common objection to the Ten Commandments is that they ‘…are negative rather than constructive...’ . This is obviously an uneducated comment, because anyone who has read the Hebrew Bible knows that this is a false statement. For example, it is true that eight of the Ten Commandments start with ‘You shall not’ but that does not mean that they are not constructive; ‘You shall not murder is negative…’ but obeying it, preserves human life. ‘You shall not commit adultery is negative…’ but obeying it preserves the sanctity of marriage. What do the Hebrew Bible critics say now? You shall not steal is negative…’ but obeying it safeguards human property. You shall not give false testimony is negative…’ but obeying it maintains honesty in dealing with others. Again, it begs the challenge of the critics. Therefore as a devout disciple of the God of Jacob, not one of the above commandments will be taken out or replaced because they are still relevant in today’s society for those who believe in Him.
‘You shall not covet’ is still relevant in today’s society as coveting or desiring the belongings of another person can lead to crime and deviance. For example, all theft begins with covetousness, a desire to obtain something that you do not posses and are not able or willing to pay for. Every act
