they want. So the next time they do it, they will get it right.
Police- Democratic Leadership is displayed here. If one of the lower officers couldn’t get enough evidence to convict a suspect, then the higher rank officer maybe unhappy but will not discipline the officer for his actions. He will explain to him what he could do, and so he can go out and get it right.

Comparing Police (democratic) and Army (authoritarian)
The police and the army both use democratic and authoritarian leadership styles with in there force.
Authoritarian Leadership
Police:
Authoritarian style is used rarely within the force mostly only in emergency situations. In an operation such as a drug raid; the drugs raid is planned out democratic before hand, where the officers can put in there ideas but when the operation is put into practice there is no time for discussion and the leadership becomes an authoritarian.
There is also authoritarian in the police routine duties this is show through ranks, uniform and sometimes in the formal modes of address such as ‘sir’ or ‘madam’.
Army
The army used to be extremely authoritarian if a command was asked of you, you would do it without any question no matter what it was, as it was authoritarian leadership style most of the commands where given with out thinking about the consequences this all changed after world war I (1914-18) as hundreds of thousands lives were needlessly lost due to bad orders unquestioned.
The modern army is less authoritarian and mistakes are learned so the planning is more democratic, but most all area are vey authoritarian still such as disciplinary and tough entry requirements and demanding training exercise enables the best leaders to be identified and fully trained in their job and in the skill of authoritarian leadership. Also it allows the soldiers to understand and know how to obey orders, when a unit is on active service orders can be given and obeyed without question. This makes the army efficient, quick and firm in its response.
Democratic Leadership
Police
The police are an information-gathering organisation, and democratic leadership makes information-gathering a lot easier and more effective at all level of organisation. Democracy is about listening, and democratic leadership is essential if ideas are passed up the chain of command as well as down.
Meetings that are held as democratic leadership are recorded and re-listened too this takes time but insures that no good ideas are
