Democratic leadership is used in small non combatant groups (such as army youth groups who take our college on residentials) the atmosphere is informal and a good deal of discussion before the leader makes decisions.
Democratic styles of leadership are valuable in meetings especially those held for planning purposes. Authoritarian styles hold briefings Democratic hold meeting. The reason for a democratic meeting is to get other people input; these meetings are far more effective to generate ideas than a briefing would be.
