The Socio-economics of Peckham
This report will examine - The Socio-economics of Peckham, South East London I will provide various evidence to decide if the community is in need or should it remain the same. If improvement is seen to be needed what measures are required, and the appropriate methods needed to achieve a better outcome on peoples lives within this community.

In my view based on my experiences I have seen a few factors which relates to lifestyle and physical well-being of people within this borough, including, Health, Housing, Education and Income:

 People on very low income, sometimes struggle to provide basic materials ie, nutritional foods adequate resources, or childcare. This can lead to other aspects, such as stress, poor health as every parent wants to provide a good standard ¬¬¬for their children. This can also lead to children not developing to their full potential or even children leading to a life of crime.

 Housing situations are not appropriate. Purpose built blocks of flats all squashed together which are mainly rented by the council, this too can affect the way in which people live their lives as the majority are overcrowded. Living in a high rise flat may affect peoples health, mentally and physically. Some people cannot cope due to phobias and sickness.

 Within Southwark unemployment is extremely high as the majority of people that work have poor Educational level and are in basic jobs where the skill level is a lower standard i.e.: Retail Shops. There are very few people in the Southwark borough who are Educated to degree level.

 The crime rate within this community is high, in the following table below you will see the amount of crimes that have happened so far this year ranging through all kinds of criminal activities, these crimes are also acted out by the youth of today from all kinds of backgrounds and aged between 9-19.

 Within the community there are many different cultures such as, White British, Irish, Black-Caribbean, Asian, Polish and many others. All cultures have different beliefs and religions, also each culture has different way’s of communicating not only with each other within their own community, but also with other cultures they live with. This can lead to disagreements, racism and gang riots.
